Description | High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF) is a container format for individual images and image sequences. It was developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group. | XPM is an image file format created in 1989. It is intended primarily for creating icon pixmaps, and supports transparent pixels. Derived from the earlier XBM syntax, it is a plain text file in the XPM2 format or of a C programming language syntax, which can be included in a C program file. |
Benefits | MPEG claims that a HEIF image using HEVC requires about half the storage space as the equivalent quality JPEG. | Compatibility |
