How to add a watermark to photos in batch
Short answer: in Contenta Converter, add your photos, click the Add Watermark card, type your text or choose your logo, click one of the nine position dots, set SIZE and OPACITY, then click Start Converting. Every photo in the batch gets the same watermark, and the watermarked copies go to a separate output folder, so your originals stay clean.
Watermarking one photo by hand is quick. Watermarking a 300-photo shoot or a whole product catalogue is not. With a batch tool you set the watermark once and the app applies it to every file, scaled to each photo's width, so it looks the same on a phone snapshot and on a full-size camera file.
Step by step
- Open Contenta Converter. On the Files step, click Add Files or Add Folder, or drag photos and folders onto the window.
- Click Next: Operations. Under What would you like to do?, click the Add Watermark card. Convert switches on with it, because the app writes new, watermarked files.
- Click Next: Configure and open the Watermark section. Under WATERMARK TYPE, choose Text or Image / Logo.
- For text, type it in the Text box, for example © Your Name 2026, and click Pick… to choose the colour. For a logo, click Browse… and choose the file. A PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result.
- Under POSITION, SIZE & OPACITY, click one of the nine dots to place the watermark, then drag the SIZE and OPACITY sliders.
- Look at the LIVE PREVIEW panel and step through a few photos, at least one portrait and one landscape, to check that the watermark covers nothing important.
- Check the Output folder at the top of the step and the Format in the Convert section, then click Start Converting.

Size is measured against each photo's own width. At 10%, the watermark is 600 pixels wide on a photo 6,000 pixels wide and 120 pixels wide on a photo 1,200 pixels wide, so a batch of mixed sizes looks consistent. On a portrait photo the width is the short side, so the watermark looks a little smaller there.
Tips for a watermark that protects without spoiling the photo
- For proofs you send to a client, a larger watermark in the centre at 30 to 40% opacity is much harder to crop off than a small mark in a corner.
- For product and social media photos, a corner watermark at around 10% size and 60 to 70% opacity keeps the subject clear.
- White text disappears on snow, sky and white product backgrounds. Check the preview on your brightest photo and pick a darker colour if the watermark vanishes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I resize the photos and add the watermark in the same batch?
Yes. On the Operations step, click the Resize card as well. The watermark is sized as a share of the photo's width, so it keeps the same proportion at the new size.
Can I repeat the watermark across the whole photo?
No. Contenta Converter places one watermark per photo, at one of the nine positions. For stronger protection, put it in the centre, raise the size and lower the opacity so it crosses the subject without hiding it.
Can I add my logo and my name at the same time?
Not in one run: each run uses either text or an image. Save your logo and your name together as one PNG, or run the batch twice, the second time on the output folder of the first run.
Does it change my original photos?
No. The app writes new files to the output folder you choose. If a file with the same name is already there, the new file gets a different name by default, so nothing is overwritten.
